Lake O’hara has a quota system in place to protect the fragile alpine environment and reduce stress on wildlife in the area. It can be tricky to get a camping spot, or even a spot on the shuttle for day hikes. I got in through a cancellation for one night at the camp ground. Of course the weather forecast was terrible. The first day it rained constantly, and sometimes torrentially. The next day was supposed to be worse according to forecasts. Lucky for us, the rain changed to snow in the morning and then the sun came out for a few hours, providing me with this stunning colourful view.
