Workshop Details

Photography Techniques & Subjects

Our subjects include landscape (small scenes to grand vistas), wildlife, and the night sky. For this workshop a variety of techniques and instruction can be covered. We will go over ISO, white balance, aperture choices, and shutter speeds choices for our various subjects. Different methods of focusing will be covered for each subject we will be shooting. We can go over focus stacking, bracketing, long exposures, depth of field, panoramas and more. Bring your questions and wish list of things to learn!

Potential Hikes

Rowe Lakes: The hike is moderately challenging on a maintained trail with 671 m elevation and 14 km distance round trip. It generally takes about 5 hours to complete, but we can expect to be out around 7 hours with all the photographic opportunities on the trail and at the upper lake. A small lightweight tripod could be useful for some water scenes, but is not necessary. A midrange lens, like 24-120mm could be sufficient.

Bear’s Hump: This is a short and steep hike, 21 7m elevation and 2.4 km round trip. Since it is so short, this could be a sunrise, sunset, or night hiking depending on weather.

Lower Bertha Falls: This is an easy hike to a beautiful waterfall. It’s relatively short with 5.2km and 175m elevation.
